Microsoft tries to repair an accidental update

Users are advised to remove the update 11.3.1 for Office 2004 for Mac.
Microsoft advises users to delete an update to Office 2004 for Mac "published by accident". In its Security Response Center blog, the editor explained that a draft of a patch had been posted in error as a security update for Mac OS version of Office 2004.
The update contains a security fix for General Office, as well as stability fixes for PowerPoint and Entourage applications. Microsoft adds that this update was in no case a fix for Word vulnerability actively exploited for several weeks, but that this was an update of general security.
The update also has no direct connection with the publication of the monthly security of 12 December. Microsoft recommends that users have already downloaded and installed the patch to uninstall it. A procedure that is not so simple as it sounds, says security organization SANS.
Some users reported that it was impossible to remove the patch separately and assumed that his removal to remove and reinstall Office and all its updates.
