Monkeys know how to plan for the future

Apes would share with humans the ability to predict their future needs. Nicholas Mulcahy, of the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig (Germany), has shown that bonobos and orangutans think to put aside the day before the tools they will need the next day! Made in the presence of a device delivering a treat thanks to a precise tool, and then away for fourteen hours, they select in advance and carry the right tool!

Ability to plan appeared there would be more than 14 million years in apes, not only among hominids, 12 million years later.
